ERP stops at the PO.
Direct material is the largest controllable cost in manufacturing. Everything that changes it after the PO, whether a revision, a deviation, an approval or a price change, never enters a system.

Changes are approved in a reply.
A revision gets a one-line "looks fine" from an engineer. Nothing links that approval to the part, the order, or the drawing it changed. Nine months later the answer is in a mailbox belonging to someone who has left.

The buyer learns about a deviation when parts land on the dock, not when the supplier hit it on the floor. A defect found late costs roughly 100× the price of the part.
